The criteria for this award are as follows: ● An established program of research, with demonstrable scholarly productivity for a period not less than five years ● A commitment to improving mental health treatment, supervision, and training, through scholarly contributions and other activities ● A track record of producing scholarly excellence without large scale funding ● Membership and active participation in SPR ● Priority will be given to applicants who face structural, contextual, and cultural challenges, say by the venue in which they work, their gender/racial/ethnic/ sexual preference, or lack of institutional or governmental support Contingent on funding and quality of applications, the MBAEP award will be given annually, announced at the SPR Conference when other awards are given. The Awardee will present their work at the subsequent conference, in a semi-plenary session named for the Award (viz., the Marna Barrett Award for Excellence in Psychotherapy Lecture). The funds will be awarded shortly after the conference at which the award is announced and shall be used to support the research of the awardee, as the awardee so determines.
